"Watch your step... - A comic fable about a man who didn't -"
parAnoid polAroid mAn is a new short film by Gunnar Knutsen & Tumblewine Films about a man who
suddenly steps on a squirrel made out of rubber and the following consequences:
He gets robbed by a masked man, discovers several polaroid snap-shots,
receives strange phone calls, enters a dump where he faces a garbage sweeper all dressed in green,
finds a tuning fork and finally the tone and a way back.
This is an absurd, comic and adventurous tale with lots of music by Los Plantronics.

The film received the Best Film Award at the Minimalen Short Film Festival 2000 in Trondheim, Norway,
and it had cinema-premiere in Oslo on July 14, 2000 fronting "Human Traffic".

Det er ikkje mange kortfilmar ein ser som har eit like leikande uttrykk som Gunnar Knutsen sine filmar... Såleis er det forfriskande å sjå ting som (...) nyttar filmmediet til det det er verdt. I alle fall eit av grepa. Og her er det klypp, eller meir montasjen som er nytta på ein slik finurleg og god måte...
Filmverda har slite med å kome seg vidare frå den klassiske historieforteljinga som vart etablert for lerretet ein gong før andre verdenskrig. You don't see many short films having such a playful expression as the ones by Gunnar Knutsen... Therefore it is refreshing to see (...) things that uses the film media for what it is worth. At least one of the main skills. And here it is the cuts, or rather the montage that is used in such a tricky and good manner...
The world of films have struggled to renew itself from the classic narrative which was established on the silver screen one time before WWII. Since then it has kind of locked itself into a firm impression of what film should be, what it shall contain. Is it really the case that film has reached the end of the line already?
